Recap of the March 29, 2012 asapm + IPMA Webinar
on the Roles of Project and Product Managers

This IPMA webinar served participants from over 20 countries; see the recorded version on the IPMA website. See how Product and Project Managers work together for success. Do you know the best ways for Project Managers and Product Managers to improve their interactions in developing new products? Have you seen cases where the two disciplines work together well? Have you seen cases where they do not?

In the recently-completed global Study of Product Team Performance, 2012, only 12% of organizations report that their product development projects are completed on time, on scope, and on budget. This webinar covered how your organization can become more successful in bringing together project managers and product managers to deliver products to your market.

asapm and IPMA hosted this session with Greg Geracie, President of Actuation Consulting, adjunct professor at DePaul University, and author of the global best seller Take Charge Product Management. Greg will examine key factors that improve or impede product team performance. Greg shared a range of findings from the 2012 study, conducted by Actuation Consulting and Enterprise Agility. He disclosed key insights based on responses from project managers, product managers, program managers, business analysts, and other members of core product development teams.

One of dozens of interesting charts from the study, and explained in the presentation

Offering a wealth of information, this year’s Study of Product Team Performance was sponsored by the International Project Management Association (IPMA) and asapm: IPMA-USA; and by the International Association of Product Marketing and Management (AIPMM), IIBA Chicagoland, Diversified Communications, and Accept Software. The study findings will be made available to IPMA members in a white paper, to be published in May.

Resource Planning Summitasapm Attended Sept. 19-21 2010 Resource Planning Summit

asapm attended the September 19-21 Resource Planning Summit, in La Jolla, CA, just North of San Diego. asapm has participated in Dick Rutledge's events three times in the last several years, and have always been impressed with this Dean of the PM Conference world. Originator of the Project Leadership Conferences in the 1990s, others "went to school" on Dick's conferences, to discover the secret sauce of successful conferences.

This year, in addition to attending and staffing an asapm booth, members received a discount for the conference. Why this conference? With Dick's events, you'll see professional speakers, with deep, relevant, and current insights. And, rather than the newcomers-to-PM audiences we've seen in many events, Dick's audiences are the decision-makers who fund operations, new products, and projects, and approve Advanced, Performance-competence based PM Certifications, and Organizational Performance Assessments in PM. asapm awaits news for the 2011 Resource Planning Summit!
